Payment Methods

The bookstore offers multiple payment options to make purchasing your course materials as convenient as possible. Please review the options below to choose the method that best fits your needs.

Deferred Payment Option

Need a little extra time? Our Deferred Payment option allows eligible students to purchase required course materials before financial aid or other funding becomes available. Payment is due no later than the official add/drop deadline. By selecting Deferred Payment, you agree to pay your balance regardless of the status of your financial aid or other funding.

If payment is not received by the add/drop deadline, you authorize the NMHU Bookstore to charge your payment method on file and/or apply any available financial aid or third-party funding toward your outstanding balance.

A 7-day grace period follows the add/drop deadline. Any balance remaining unpaid after the grace period will incur a 10% late fee of the outstanding balance, with a minimum charge of $10.

Balances remaining unpaid 30 days after the original due date will incur an additional 30% late fee of the outstanding balance, with a minimum charge of $15. Unpaid balances may be referred to a collections agency, applicable collection costs may become your responsibility, and a hold may be placed on your student account until the balance is paid in full.

Accepted Payment Methods

The bookstore accepts Credit/Debit Cards and Student Account Funds (Financial Aid or Third Party, if applicable).

Can I have my textbooks billed to my student account?

Yes, we can bill your student account directly if your funds are available.

When are Financial Aid payment methods available?

Financial Aid payment methods are available at the beginning of each semester. Please contact the Financial Aid office to confirm your account fund status.

Can I purchase items other than course materials with Financial Aid?

No. Financial Aid funds are only available for textbook purchases at the beginning of each semester.

Why do I need to keep a debit/credit card on file for rentals?

A card is required in case a rental item is not returned.

Does an order confirmation mean my payment has been charged?

No. The confirmation email only verifies your order and payment information has been received. Your payment method will be charged once your order is fulfilled, and you will receive a second confirmation email when your order is ready for pickup or has shipped.

I received a “Billing system error.” How do I fix this?

Please verify your card number is correct. If it is, confirm that the billing address matches the address on file with your bank. Re-enter the correct information if needed.

I’m getting an error when checking out with Financial Aid. How do I fix this?

Verify that your Financial Aid funds have been allocated by contacting the Financial Aid office. If funds are confirmed, please contact the bookstore for assistance. Financial Aid is disbursed before the start of class. You CANNOT use your financial aid payment method after this date.

NOTE: When using Financial Aid or Third Party Funds, a credit card is required if a rental option is selected.
